You should definitely go when you come to Namie Town! 4 recommended sightseeing spots!

1.Earthquake Remains Namie Town Ukedo Elementary School

At Ukedo Elementary School, you can learn about the fear of tsunamis and the importance of being prepared. The entire school is on display and you can experience it with your whole body.

Humans are powerless and unable to resist natural disasters. The only thing you can do is prepare on a daily basis. Let’s check the hazard map and review what kind of disasters can occur in the area where you live, and what actions and preparations you should take if they occur.

3.Namie’s technique/Nariwaikan

At the Namie no Waza Nariwai-kan, you can see how Ohori Soma-yaki is actually made.

At the sake brewery corner, you can see how the famous sake “Iwaki Ju” is made.

Namie’s local sake is said to have already been produced during the Tenpo era. Due to the Great East Japan Earthquake, Suzuki Sake Brewery moved to Nagai City, Yamagata Prefecture, where it has continued to uphold its tradition as the Otoko Sake''. We have recently set up a sake brewery inside the roadside station. The production of the famous sakeIwaki Ju” has begun again in Namie.

In addition to freshly squeezed sake, we also have freshly made sake lees and processed products made with sake at the sales corner.
